2nd ADAC GT MASTERS RACE WEEKEND - CALLAWAY PLANS TO BUILD ON ITS SUCCESSFUL SEASON OPENER
After a strong season opener in Oschersleben, once again Callaway Competition aims to target the podium at the second round of the ADAC GT Masters series at the Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic. Last year, the Corvette team made it onto the Most podium twice, capturing second place.
With positive expectations, Callaway Competition will start the next round of the ADAC GT Masters in Most this weekend, May 17-19. After the impressive opening win in Oschersleben by R-Motorsport drivers Marvin Kirchhöfer and Markus Pommer, the team from Leingarten looks optimistically on its next assignment.
In 2018, the ADAC GT Masters series included Autodrom Most in their schedule for the first time. This year, the "League of Super Sports Cars” is holding races three and four on the 4.2 km track. Last year, Callaway Competition, with no prior series points, was able to secure second place finishes at Most, and consequently started the Team’s chase for the series championship. Next weekend, the situation for Mike Gramke’s team looks a bit more comfortable. With 29 points in their pocket, they want to attack Most again this year and collect as many points as possible.
The two Corvette drivers Marvin Kirchhöfer and Markus Pommer are already looking forward to the fast track. Both made the leap to the podium at last year's premiere, with Pommer even emerging victorious in the second race.
"I'm highly motivated after the strong start in Oschersleben and now I want to reboot. If we keep working as we did in Oschersleben, we have a good chance of a podium finish. Although we have good memories from last year, we must not forget how busy this race is. Especially, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be very strong again due to the track characteristics. Most is a great track with slow and fast corners. But again, there is some luck involved getting through the first chicane." Marvin Kirchhöfer
"After the great kick-off weekend in Oschersleben, I'm very confident for Most. I think we have good conditions for being upfront. The track should be good for our car, Marvin and me. Although I have not raced there in the Corvette yet, she was very successful last year with two podium finishes. The track is not unknown to me either. The second sector is especially a lot of fun, because it is fast and fluid. I'm curious to see how the tires work on the new asphalt.” Markus Pommer
"The team is highly motivated and the mood is very good. Certainly, we’re starting this year better than last year, but we're still just at the beginning of the season. All of us in the team have one goal in mind and achieving it requires consistency. At Most, we want two good results to take home with us.” Mike Gramke, Team Boss
